The Velocity/Multiplier Effect of $1 Spent in Local Communities

According to current Chamber of Commerce figures, one dollar spent in a
local communit changes hands a minimum of three times before leaving the community.
Some economists place the multiplier to having an impact on as many as seven individuals,
entities, corporations, etc., by virtue of being spent locally.

The multiplier effect has been highlighted in Accounts Receivable Past Due Stamps on business statements
during past recessions by the phrase: "Please Pay Us, So We Can Pay Them." But the multiplier is
even more apparent, when considered, in the simple purchase at any retailer, insurance agency, or services provider.

How many individuals benefitted from the $1 you spent today?
How many times did the dollar travel by being "re-spent" by virtue of salary or spending?
Did that dollar actually come back to you in a tangible or intangible way?
.
Contact your local Chamber of Commerce
to obtain more information about how this
calculation is made by their organization.
